How does the facial recognition actually work? ▼
When a photographer uploads event photos, our system uses AWS Rekognition — Amazon's enterprise-grade AI — to detect every face in every photo. Each face is converted into a mathematical encoding (not a photo) and stored securely. When an attendee registers with a selfie, we create their encoding and compare it against all indexed faces. Matches above our confidence threshold (configurable, typically 95%+) are returned as their personalised gallery. The entire process takes under 3 seconds.
What happens to selfies after the event? ▼
You control the retention period. Selfies and their facial encodings can be set to auto-delete after a configurable period (e.g., 7 days, 30 days, or 90 days after your event ends). Attendees can also request immediate deletion at any time using a self-service link in their gallery. Once deleted, the data is permanently removed — no backups retained.
Can it handle large events with thousands of people? ▼
